The AGM was held on Saturday 14.11.09, not very well supported by the teams or parents, under 11 fc and colts present but in small numbers.
I would like to thank Jan for all the work he has put in to sorting the club out and for a well presented AGM.
Lets hope we can grow and apart from winning, forget about the past.
Come on PINLEY

Won at Central Ajax a week ago. Played the best football we have all season in the first half and came of 2 nil up although our play warrented more. Missed chances could however have cost us as Ajx had 2 one on ones which Louis Spencer dealt with admirabaly. The second half we scorded early and then proceeded to give a away a penelth to let Aax back in the game. We did how ever restore the 3 goal advantage quickly and eventually run out 6-2 winner. The game was played in a great spirt with Ajax competing to the end. I must say the referee for the game was excelent. Goals from Dale Wigmore 3 , Jack Watson, Bjorn on his debut and Mo Sembi secured the winner.
Dale was MOM for an outstanding performance.

Finham Park Rangers v Pinley Colts
First match of the season and hopes and expectations were very high, the match kicked off at 10:30am in cool and dry conditions.
From the start it became clear that both sides were intent on closing each other down quickly and time on the ball was going to be limited, all the early action took place in the middle of the field before Finham forced the first real period of pressure with three consecutive corners, from the third the Colts broke clear and two quick passes sent Brandon Beard racing away but his shot was just wide. The deadlock was finally broken when Jody Makuba latched onto the goalkeepers clearance to lob the ball back over him, one nil at half time.
The second half began in the same fashion as the first with possession quickly swapping from team to team but ten minutes in the Colts doubled their lead when Oliver Vickery crossed from the right Luke Timbrell knocked it back for Jody Makuba to get his second. The goal seemed to spark Finham into action as the Colts defended deeper and deeper, on a rare visitor attack Thomas Grainger put a free kick just over, but with pressure mounting Finham pulled a goal back when a free kick was turned in from close range. The home team should have been level with two minutes left when a great through ball left their striker with just the keeper to beat but he fired wide. The Colts held on for a hard earned win with defender Liam Dacey picking up the man of the match award.

Hawkesmill 87 v Pinley Colts
The Colts started the game looking to improve on the last performance, but it soon became clear Hawkesmill were a fast and physical team and that it would be a difficult evening for the visitors. After only 5 minutes a relentless stream of attacks saw the Colts unable to clear their lines and a cross come shot was to strong for keeper Charlie Wilkinson to hold one nil to the home team. Hawkesmill were playing to their strengths getting the ball up to two quick strikers to chase at every opportunity, the second goal arrived with a cross from the right and an easy finish for the front man. On a rare burst into their opponents half Liam Baldwin intercepted a pass to send Jordan Jones away who in turn found Thomas Grainger his turn and shot from wide on the left deserved a goal but landed on the roof of the net. Two nil Hawkesmill at half time.
The second half bought no respite for the Colts as a barrage of balls forward saw the third goal arrive in similar fashion to the first. Despite the home teams pressure the Colts started to find some joy up front with Brandon Beard forcing the keeper into a good save and moments later a through ball from captain Charlie Perrin sent Jody Makuba clear but his shot lacked power and was easily saved. A fourth goal came with ten minutes to go when the front men again out paced the defenders. The Colts were making a better show of it in the second half and had two very strong penalty claims when first Brandon Beard and secondly Thomas Grainger both raced into the box and got caught from behind but to both players credit stayed on their feet to get their shots away. A further chance came when Nathan McNaney and Richard Albrighton combined to send Jordan Jones away down the left, his run being ended by a miss-timed tackle. From the free kick a scramble in the box saw the ball cleared long up field for the home team to get the fifth goal with virtually the last kick of the game.
A much improved second half performance and a few things learned for the Colts

Pinley Colts v Chapelfields Colts
A perfect day for football saw the visit of Chapelfields Colts with the home team down to the bare eleven players. A cautious start by both teams enjoying their share of possession without threatening the goal. The match was being played out in midfield with plenty of good football on show from either side, Pinley won a free kick about 25 yards out which Tom Grainger struck well giving the keeper no chance, one nil after 15 minutes and that’s how it stayed up to half time.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with lots of good football and strong but fair challenges. Ten minutes into the half the visitors won a free kick on the edge of the area and the resulting low shot seemed to go under the wall and the scores were level. The home team without any subs started to look a little tired and the visitors began to press, Pinley still looked dangerous on the counter attack but couldn’t find the final ball to give the strikers something to get onto. With about 8 minutes to go another visitor attack seemed to come to nothing when a miss-placed pass gave possession away about thirty yards from goal, the ball was quickly returned towards goal giving keeper Charlie Wilkinson no chance and the score was 2-1. The last five minutes saw Pinley pile on the pressure but they were unable to break down a well organised Chapelfields defence. Disappointment for the Colts but a great game of football, they will play worse and win.

U13's played Weddington Thistle U13's at home at a 1.30 pm kick off.
Well what can i say, this game was exciting, nail biting, exhausting for all of us.
At one point we were 4-2 down with about 15 minutes to go and we scored 4 goals and they scored 1. The final score was 6-5 to us.
Scorers were Sambou 3, Smith 2 and Emeny 1.
The whole team worked hard and deserved this win.
Well done to everyone....

Pinley under 8s
Pinley v Dunlop played Saturday 25th Sept
It was exiting from the first whistle to the last, both teams played the most exiting football I've seen in a long time. It was nail biting stuff with pinley pushing forward at every opportunity.
They showed some great passing skills between them and good ball control with pinley going 1-0 up before half time and all the parents applauded the goal from Nathan Mockford (Mocky).
At half time we were still 1-0 up and after half time the great football continued from the players dunlop was awarded a free kick and the goalie and defenders cleared the ball and a dunlop player got the ball and belted it towards the goal and the goalie couldn't do anything about it and it was 1-1.
pinley kept pushing forward at every opportunity with chances at goal but it wasn't to be, pinley just couldn't get that 2nd goal not for the want of trying.
dunlop pushed up on a few opportunities but the goal keeper Jack Watkins saved some great balls.
Well done boys keep it up.

Bulkington Sports v Pinley Colts
A cold windy day saw the Colts make the short trip to Bedworth to play Bulkington Sports. The visitors made the perfect start as Jordan Jones put them one up with barely a minute played. Lots of strong running and short sharp passing saw the Colts create plenty of chances two of which found the net through Brandon Beard and Ricky Kangura, 3-0 at half time.
The second half began as the first with a quick goal for the visitors this time from Luke Timbrell. The Colts defence had barely been troubled thanks in part to Jody Makuba and Thomas Grainger who were holding the midfield very well and allowing the others a free attacking role. Two goals for captain Charlie Perrin either side of a second for Ricky Kangura put the Coventry side 7-0 up, two late goals for Bulkington was just reward for their never give up approach but the day belonged to Pinley.

Pinley Colts v Caludon Youth
Still looking for there first home win of the season Pinley could not have got off to a worse start conceding after just a minute. From the re-start they pushed forward and were level just two minutes later when Thomas Grainger fired home. Parity only lasted a few moments though as Caludon again moved in front. With the match being very open and end to end Pinley were again level through Jordan Jones, 2-2 and only ten minutes gone. The match was full of attacking football with both defences being pushed very hard, but it was the visitors who broke through after 25minutes to regain the lead, fortunately Pinley levelled again on the stroke of half time with the goal of the game from Brandon Beard a cheeky left footed lob over the keeper. The second half was not quiet as open as the first as the defences began to look more composed with Liam Baldwin and Cole Herbert both making good blocks in quick succession. Caludon forced there way back in front with ten minutes gone but just as before they were unable to hold the lead for more than a few minutes as Ricky Kangura turned a half chance into a goal 4-4. Chances came and went for both sides with keeper Charlie Wilkinson making several excellent stops and troubling the visitors with his kicking ability. With time virtually up a speculative shot found the net and with no time to fight back for a fifth time Caludon won the match 5-4. Another great game of football to watch with the visitors just doing enough to edge it.

Christ the king v Pinley Colts
A perfect day for football saw Pinley playing away at Christ the king and for the first time this season with a full squad to choose from. From the off the home team were very much on top with keeper Charlie Wilkinson being called into action three times in the opening ten minutes, but there was little he could do when CTK went ahead from a corner. Gradually Pinley got into the game with skipper Charlie Perrin and Thomas Grainger beginning to dominate the midfield. The visitors forwards of Brandon Beard and Ricky Kangura were starting to develop a good partnership together and both saw shots saved after some good build up play. The equaliser came after 20 minutes when Kangura turned in a Grainger corner from close range, and that’s how it stayed till the break. The second half began well for Pinley with the two wide players Oliver Vickery and Jody Makuba starting to make an impression on the match. Pinley went 2-1 up after 10 minutes when Beard and Perrin combined and the ball broke for Kangura his snap shot going in off the post. The home team pressed forward working the Pinley defence very hard, Jordan Jones and Richard Albrighton both making last gasp tackles to keep the advantage, on the break Pinley still looked dangerous and could have stretched there lead but the keeper saved well from Grainger’s long range effort. Pinley managed to hold out despite some intense pressure for a very hard earned win in a match that saw some excellent football from both sides.

Pinley Colts v Fire-fighters
The Colts second home match was against the leagues early pace-setters Fire-fighters, unbeaten in their opening two games and with the Colts short on numbers and reduced to playing the whole match with ten players it looked a difficult task for the home team.
The match began well with both teams having good possession of the ball and trying to play through the midfield, the first spell of pressure was forced by the visitors with two corners which saw the Colts eventually clear the ball up field to safety. The visitors pressed again but the make shift home defence of Liam Baldwin and Luke Timbrell on the left and Richard Albrighton and Liam Dacey on the right began to look more confident restricting Fire-fighters opportunities to get forward. The first Pinley chance on goal came about 20 minutes in when Jordan Jones won a good header to knock it into the path of Brandon Beard but the strikers half volley went just over. One more chance came and went in the first half when Oliver Vickery and Charlie Perrin exchanged passes for Thomas Grainger to have a shot charged down, goal less at half time.
The second half saw the ten man home team start the better but within five minutes they were behind when a Pinley defender facing his own goal put the ball passed keeper Charlie Wilkinson while trying to clear under pressure. To their credit Pinley didn’t let their heads drop and continued to push for an equaliser and midway through the half a chance came when a good run by Jordan Jones ended with a foul thirty yards from goal. Thomas Grainger took the free kick and the scores were level. The last fifteen minutes saw plenty of passing football from both teams but with little goal mouth action and the game finished all square one each. A great effort for the under strength Colts.

Pinley Colts v Coundon Cockerels
The game was played on a heavy pitch following days of rain but Pinley began the much better of the two sides spreading the play well and keeping their opponents firmly in their own half . The first shots in anger came when Thomas Grainger cut in from the left to see his effort saved as first Charlie Perrin and then Jordan Jones followed up only to see their shots cleared as well. The deadlock was broken 15 minutes in with some great work on the right from Oliver Vickery to find striker Ricky Kangura his snap shot was again saved but strike partner Brandon Beard followed up to make it one nil. Three minutes later it could have been two as Kangura was very unlucky to be flagged offside when following up to score from Jody Makuba shot. Within five minutes Kangura did have his reward scoring from close range after another Vickery run down the right. Two nil at half time. Five minutes into the second half saw Beard react first to a scramble in the box after another Grainger shot to make it three. A strong run from Coundons left wing saw Pinley unable to clear their lines as the visitors first real attack allowed them to reduce the deficit. The goal seemed to drive the home team on as first Beard got his third and then Kangura his second to put Pinley 5-1 up with Vickery again involved in the build up. Jones had a goal disallowed after an injury to the goalkeeper and Beard had one ruled out for offside but notched his fourth of the game with a great run and finish to give Pinley a comfortable 6-1 win.

Pinley Colts v Alveston
The second round of the cup saw Pinley at home to Alveston from the A League. A heavy pitch and opponents sitting fourth in the top division of the John Bryan League meant the Colts were in for a difficult time. The match started as expected with the visitors making all the running, within eight minutes they were two goals to the good, both times Pinley had chances to clear but Alveston forced the ball home. The second goal at last seemed to spark the home team into action as with their first attack of the match they scored, Brandon Beard collected the ball 35 yards from goal and raced to the corner of the area his left foot shot beat the keeper but came back off the post where strike partner Ricky Kangura was following up to score from a tight angle. At the other end of the field Richard Albrighton was leading by example with a series of strong tackles and clearances as the visitors struggled to regain their early dominance. It looked like being 2-1 at the break but right on half time a good cross from the right was forced over the line for 3-1. The second half saw a reshuffle for the Colts as they tried to capitalize on their pace up front, the game was being played out in the visitors half but despite numerous attacks they were unable to find the final ball and Alveston were quick to break away as they scored twice more in the space of ten minutes to give them a comfortable cushion. The home team continued to press with striker Beard now playing in midfield having a strong run halted but the ball broke to Jody Makuba who finished well into the bottom corner to make the score 5-2. The home team continued to cause problems for their opponents and perhaps should have scored more but having survived a couple of penalty appeals the score line was about right. No victory for the Colts but a very impressive display against a very good Alveston side.

Pinley Colts v Leamington Brakes Colts
A morning kick off for the Colts looking to continue their good run in the league, the game started well for the home team as they immediately forced Brakes deep into their own half, with Liam Dacey and Oliver Vickery combining well down the right to present Thomas Grainger with a shot that was charged down. The first goal duly arrived five minutes in when a ball down the left from Nathan McNaney found striker Ricky Kangura who made a strong run into the area, a good tackle only presented the ball to strike partner Brandon Beard who made no mistake from ten yards. Pinleys second and Beards second came two minutes later again following some good work from Vickery and Kangura who teed up Beard to slot home in the bottom corner. Brakes responded with their first real pressure on the Pinley goal as first Richard Albrighton and then Cole Herbert were forced into last gasp tackles. On ten minutes Beard completed his hat trick when Jordan Jones fed Grainger who in turn played the ball into the box for Kangura who cleverly let the ball run for Beard to score. Despite plenty of pressure the Colts were unable to score again in the first half, 3-0 at the break. The second half started a bit more even as Brakes tried to get back into the game but captain Charlie Perrin was having a superb game playing a holding role and giving the Brakes front line no time on the ball, another interception by the skipper and a ball to Grainger who in turn found Vickery to cross into the area led to the fourth goal as Brakes failed to clear and Jody Makuba finished well. Leamington to their credit continued to go for it, but as they committed bodies forward Pinley keeper Charlie Wilkinson began to punish them with his kicks as kangura capitalized with the goal of the game. The home teams sixth goal was another determined run at goal by Grainger and then Makuba as Kangura finished off well. Luke Timbrell and Liam Baldwin both on as late substitutes helped to ensure the Colts recorded not only their fifth win of the season but also their first clean sheet, 6-0 the final score.

Chapelfields Colts v Pinley Colts
After a near 7 week lay-off with postponed matches the Colts finally had a game against a Chapelfields side sitting just below them in the league.
The match went ahead on a pitch of two very different halves with one side being short and firm and the other heavy and boggy with long grass, the Colts attacking the firm end first. The match was barely a minute old when the home teams first attack finished with a clumsy tackle in the box to hand them a penalty, fortune though was on Pinley’s side as the ball was smashed against the crossbar and away. Despite the miss Chapelfields continued to have all the pressure with the visitors struggling to clear the ball in the boggy conditions, only a great block by Cole Herbert and a last ditch tackle by Richard Albrighton kept the Colts on level terms. A rare push forward saw Jordan Jones play in Oli Vickery on the right who turned well to race away and play the ball in to Brandon Beard but the striker was unable to get a strong shot away, The home team continued to dominate but couldn’t score, 0-0 at half time.
The second half bought no relief for the Colts as they again were forced onto the back foot by wave after wave of Chap’s attacks, this time the goal duly arrived following a scramble in the box as the Colts again failed to clear. With 15 minutes left a strong run and shot bought the save of the match out of keeper Charlie Wilkinson who went full stretch to turn it around the post, from the resulting corner it was 2-0 as the keeper failed to hold a fiercely hit cross shot and it was bundled over the line. At last the Colts sprang into life as the momentum of the game switched, the returning Roland Kabongo pulling a goal back after some great work from Jody Makuba. The midfield duo of Tom Grainger and Charlie Perrin began to take control and worked a good chance for Beard but again in the heavy ground he was unable to get any power in his shot. Another great run by Makuba saw the ball eventually break to Ricki Kangura but he put the ball just wide when his footing went from under him. With four minutes remaining the visitors were level when Kabongo finished well after Grainger and Makuba had combined well. Pinley continued to push for the winner which should have came when Kabongo missed his easiest chance of the day for his hatrick, however the Colts desire to go on and win the game proved there undoing as Chaps broke quickly up the other end, a last gasp tackle only bought about another penalty and with the clock running down the ball was struck home to give them all three points. A big disappointment for Pinley that it took them so long to get going after the lay off but they will take a lot of heart from the last 15 minutes of the match.

Pinley Colts v Bulkington Sports
An early morning ko and a very heavy pitch didn’t detract from the home teams determination to bounce back from a rare defeat on their last outing as right from the off they pushed Bulkington deep into their own half, much of the early pressure came from the right with Oli Vickery combining well with Brandon Beard to create an early chance for Ricky Kangura which was well saved by the keeper. Another sweeping move down the right saw Beard finish well only to be denied by a very tight offside decision, 5 minutes later strike partner Kangura also had a goal chalked off by the linesman as the Colts continued to pile on the pressure. With all the play in their opponents half and everyone pushing up Bulkington played a long ball forward beating all the defenders to send their striker clear, goalkeeper Charlie Wilkinson called into action for the first time to make a great save, from the save the Colts quickly countered to send Kangura away and a tidy finish put the Colts 1-0 up and that’s how it stayed till half time.
The second half started with the Colts on top as again both strikers saw goals disallowed for offside, with the home team unable to hammer home their advantage Bulkington grew in confidence forcing several corners and seeing Wilkinson pull off 3 great saves to keep the Colts ahead. The home team finally managed to extend their lead when Beard lobbed the keeper after a blocked shot from Tom Grainger. Five minutes later it was 3 when a mazy run from Jody Makuba bought a fine save from the goal keeper only for Kangura to be following up to put it into the net for a goal he thoroughly deserved. The visitors should have pulled one back when Wilkinson came racing a long way off his line to make a tackle only for the ball to fall kindly to the striker but agonisingly for him his shot into an unguarded net went just wide. The game finished 3-0 but could have been a lot more but for an outstanding display from the Bulkington left back. A solid performance from everyone with Oli Vickery having one of his best games in a Pinley shirt and Captain Charlie Perrin leading by example with 60 minutes of non stop running. Congratulations also to Tom McDowell on a very good debut for the Colts.

Caludon Youth v Pinley Colts
Pinley made the short trip to local rivals Caludon looking to avenge their narrow defeat from earlier in the season, the pitch was in excellent condition and with little breeze it was a perfect day for football. It was the home team who started the better as they dominated the ball and forced Pinley deep into their own half. Despite the first ten minutes of pressure and some excellent defending from Jordan Jones and Liam Baldwin the first real chance fell to Pinley striker Brandon Beard who raced clear but shot wide as the defenders tackle came in. Caludon continued to set the pace but again Beard and strike partner Ricky Kangura managed to make something out of nothing and Beard finished well to put the visitors 1-0 up. Within two minutes a hand ball from a corner gave the home team the chance to equalise from the spot but the penalty was well saved by keeper Charlie Wilkinson. Caludon did equalise a minute later when a strong run and shot left the keeper helpless, 1-1. The game at last became a more even affair as Beard again saw an effort just wide, another Pinley attack forced a desperate clearance and from Tom Grainger’s corner Beard headed home for his second. With just two minutes of the half remaining Caludon again equalised after some fine work and a good cross coming in from the right, 2-2 at half time.
The second half was not such an open game with only half chances for either side, but with only ten minutes left it again burst into life as both teams looked to take all 3 points, Beard, kangura and Jody Makuba all thought they were through on goal in quick succession only to be denied by the lines mans flag on each occasion. With just three minutes left Beard chased a lost cause and got his shot away a split second before the keeper could collect, the ball hitting him in the face and beard reacted first to tap in from a tight angle for his and the Colts third. Caludon swarmed forward and following a great run down the right the cross was forced home despite defender Richard Albrighton throwing his self in the way, 3-3. From the kick off and with seconds remaining Pinley pushed forward and with the ball played out on the right to Tom Grainger he burst into the box and came crashing down as he was about to shoot but no penalty given that was the last action in the match, a fair result between to very evenly matched teams but one the Colts will feel they should have held on to win.

Grove Farm v Pinley Colts
The Colts made the trip to Nuneaton to face Grove farm in extremely windy conditions that did nothing for either sides chances of playing good football. The game began with the Farm starting the better, within five minutes they were ahead when a pass down the left was blown to the right and finished well. Ten minutes in it was 2 when Pinley missed several chances to clear and again the Farm player made no mistake. The visitors at last started to get a grip on the game as Ricky Kangura and Brandon Beard both broke clear within minutes of each other but shot wide. Pinley continued to press and following a good run by Jody Makuba and then Roland Kabongo, Tom Grainger finished off to pull a goal back. Another attack from Pinley saw Jordan Jones play in Beard who’s shot beat the keeper but came back off the upright. The visitors continued to have the upper hand as a break down the left from Luke Timbrell let in Kangura who had his shot charged down. Cole Herbert was winning plenty of tackles in midfield as Pinley searched for an equaliser feeding Kabongo who had a fierce shot charged down, but a couple of counter attacks by the Farm saw Tom McDowell and then Richard Albrighton come to Pinley’s rescue with some great defending. Two minutes before half time Pinley were level when a kick from keeper Charlie Wilkinson was helped on by Timbrell and then Beard to send Kangura away who made no mistake, 2-2 at half time. The second half began as the first ended with the visitors on top, a Grainger cross being smashed against the crossbar by Makuba and a Kangura effort being ruled offside following a clever pass from Herbert. Through balls from Makuba and Jones gave Beard a couple of one on ones but the normally ruthless striker shot wide as the strong winds hampered his efforts. Another counter attack by the Farm saw Liam Baldwin make a good interception and lay the ball back to Wilkinson but the keepers clearance was blown back at him, fortunately Albrighton managed to scramble the ball away to safety. With little time remaining Grainger found some room on the right and seemed certain to score but shot wide, moments later it was Beard who again went clear but the ball bobbled badly as he was about to shoot, into the last two minutes and a superb cross from Beard to Grainger left him with just the keeper to beat but again he shot wide. With less than a minute to go Nathan McNaney made a great tackle and a pinpoint through ball to Kangura who slotted it past the keeper to give the Colts a hard earned but deserved 3-2 win. A great game of football from both sides played in very windy conditions.

Cov Jag 2004 v Pinley Colts
Pinley faced the difficult trip to table toppers Cov Jag looking to be the first team to take something off them this season. On a wet and muddy pitch the Colts started well with Tom Grainger, Jody Makuba and Roland Kabongo combining well down the left to put some early pressure on, Pinley managed to pass the ball well in the poor conditions and created an early chance for Makuba who fired straight at the keeper. With only three minutes gone Jag scored from their first foray forward as keeper Charlie Wilkinson let a slippy ball underneath him. Despite going a goal down the Colts continued to dominate with Oli Vickery tricking his way down the right to cross for Kabongo to fire just wide. Vickery exchanged passes with Makuba a few minutes later to create a chance for striker Brandon Beard who saw his shot well saved by the keeper. The visitors continued to press and found an equaliser 15 minutes in when a speculative shot from Makuba proved too good for the keeper, the goal seemed to spark Jag into life as they began to pressure the Pinley defence with Jordan Jones and Tom McDowell both making strong challenges to keep the scores level. Pinley were in on goal again moments later when Liam Baldwin played the ball wide to Grainger who in turn played a neat one two with Beard before firing just past the far post. Grainger was away again down the left when Luke Timbrell sent him clear but shot into the keepers arms, from his clearance Jag broke away and despite a great tackle from Cole Herbert the ball fell kindly for the striker who fired in on goal only to see Wilkinson make a tremendous double save. Captain Charlie Perrin and Vickery worked some space down the right to let in Beard, his shot was charged down and Kabongo following up saw his effort charged down as well. 1-1 at half time.
The visitors continued in the second half were they had left off with Perrin and Makuba both testing the keeper. 10 minutes in Pinley won a free kick some 20 yards out and Grainger struck the ball well giving the keeper no chance 2-1 to the visitors. With their 100% record now in serious trouble Jag pushed forward as first Richard Albrighton and then McDowell made great blocking tackles to keep them out, but within 5 minutes they were level when a strike on goal was charged down but deflected onto the post and rebounded back to a Jag player for a tap in. The set back didn’t dampen Pinleys enthusiasm as they again looked to get back in front, another good move saw a Kabongo effort saved and another Grainger shot go just wide. The match was now very much end to end as both teams looked for the winning goal, Nathan McNaney made two blocks in quick succession before Beard went on a powerful run beating four players only to be denied by the save of the match from the Jag keeper. Of the two sides Pinley looked the more likely winners and seemed set to score in the dying seconds when three Pinley players burst forward

Leamington Brakes v Pinley Colts
Pinley made the trip to struggling Brakes looking to build on an excellent previous week and continue their promotion push. The game kicked off in cold but dry weather on a small pitch with plenty of grass still on it. From the kick off it soon became clear Brakes were very much up for it following a heavy defeat the week before, the midfield was extremely congested as the home side hunted down every ball in numbers, with little room to play neither team produced any football of quality in the opening exchanges. With 15 minutes gone the Colts finally started to put some pressure on as first Beard and then Makuba tested the goalkeeper. With the Brakes working so hard to close down, the Colts struggled to put their passing game together with the wide pair of Grainger and Vickery not seeing enough of the ball, despite being out numbered in midfield Perrin and Makuba created a shot for Baldwin which was well saved by the keeper. Two minutes later the visitors finally went ahead when Beard followed up a Kangura shot to fire home from three yards. The goal did nothing to settle the game down as space was still at a premium. The Colts changed to a more direct style but saw virtually every attack ended by the off side flag. With half time approaching and the Brakes attacking a shot was charged down by Herbert but the ball was returned well to the far post where it was headed home, 1-1 at the break.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first with the game played out in an over crowded midfield, but with a change of formation the visitors looked to bring fullbacks Timbrell and Jones more into the attack and create some much needed width. The Colts still struggled to find the wide players and did not create too many chances and when they did get forward in numbers the offside flag, the goalkeeper or poor finishing stopped them in their tracks, with the game heading for a draw and time up Brakes forced a corner, this was headed out for another corner which was cleared up field, with the whistle in the referees mouth the ball was returned to the box and scrambled into the net to give the Brakes a rare win. Huge disappointment for the Colts to lose the match at the death but the Brakes may have deserved their win with such a battling performance.

Pinley Colts v Cov Jag 2004
The champions elect were the visitors to Pinley boasting an unbeaten record of all wins apart from the earlier meeting with Pinley that finished 2-2. In conditions just right for football the game began with most of the play being in midfield as both teams looked to play football. The Colts first venture forward came when Vickery turned and moved down the right but his ball inside for Kangura was cut out and cleared. Grainger on the left was unlucky moments later when he received the ball from Perrin but saw his shot saved well by the keeper. On ten minutes Jag went ahead after a cross into the box was half cleared by the defence before it was fired back in and deflected passed keeper Wilkinson. Despite the set back Pinley continued to look for an equaliser with Beard and Kangura both seeing shots well saved. Twenty minutes in and almost an equaliser for the home team when a Grainger free kick was superbly saved by the keeper. At the back first Timbrell and then Jones made crucial tackles to keep the score to one, and that’s how it stayed till half time. The second half started with the Jag pushing the home team back as they looked to double their tally, five minutes in they did just that as they beat the offside trap with the striker finishing well. The Colts rallied and at last started to get the better in midfield, Perrin finding Vickery who played in Kangura only to see the Jag Keeper save well. The home team continued to pile on the pressure and won another free kick which Grainger put into the top corner giving the keeper no chance this time to reduce the deficit. McNaney was winning plenty of tackles in midfield as Pinley searched for an equaliser, another scramble saw a Beard effort cleared and then a Kabongo effort well saved. Late substitute Makuba was unlucky as a shot curled just passed the post. With time running out central defender Albrighton was pushed into midfield and made an immediate impact with a great pass out to Grainger, his cross was met by Beard but again the keeper was equal to it. With two minutes left it was Albrighton who grabbed the equaliser when he picked his spot to give the keeper no chance. From the Jag kick off the home team won the ball and pushed up field winning a corner, Grainger took it and Kabongo headed just over. That proved to be the last action of the match as it again finished 2-2, an excellent game of football played in the very best spirit by both teams.

Pinley Colts v Grove Farm
Earlier in the season it took a last minute goal to separate these two teams and after last weeks performance against the league leaders the Colts were hoping not to leave it so late this time. The match kicked off on a hard pitch in mild conditions, from the start Pinley attacked down the left with Makuba making a very strong run before firing across goal for Beard to finish at the second attempt, 14 seconds gone. The home side continued to press forward with Kabongo and Perrin combining well to create a chance for Kangura who shot over the bar. The second goal arrived on ten minutes when a cross from Grainger was eventually hammered home by Makuba after Beard and kangura both had shots charged down. The visitors eventually started to put some pressure on forcing McDowell and Albrighton into strong challenges to clear the danger. Two minutes later the referee awarded an indirect free kick for a back pass to give the Grove an opportunity inside the penalty area, but the save of the match from keeper Wilkinson preserved the two goal advantage. The lead was soon three as a run by Timbrell down the left found Kabongo who unselfishly played in Makuba for his second and Pinley’s third. With half time approaching a Grainger corner was headed into the net by Kabongo. The Farm showed they weren’t out of it yet forcing the ball home in a scramble after a fine run by their midfielder, 4-1 at the break.
The second half began well for the visitors as they pushed forward looking to reduce the deficit with Jones making a good tackle and playing in Vickery who ran down the flank before shooting over the top, the Grove continued to push players forward but they were to be undone on the break as Herbert and Baldwin managed to get the ball out to Perrin who in turn found Beard to score his second of the match. Grove farm did pull another goal back with 15 minutes remaining with a good run down the right which was well finished into the bottom corner. The home team were awarded a free kick moments later which saw the keeper make a good save from McDowells effort, but the fifth goal duly arrived when McNaney won the ball in midfield to find Kangura who in turn played in Beard, the striker holding off two defenders before giving the ball back to Kangura who then out paced the defence to slot the ball into the corner of the net. Late on Grainger nearly made it seven when he cut inside from the left but hit the side netting, 6-2 it finished. An excellent performance all round with Perrin and Kabongo both having very good games.

Fire Fighters v Pinley Colts
Pinley faced the difficult trip to a well placed Fire Fighters side just 4 points behind them with three games in hand. The match kicked off on a good pitch in conditions just right for football, the home team started the better as they pressed down the right wing forcing keeper Wilkinson to collect a good cross. The opening 5 minutes were played out in front of the Colts goal as a succession of strong tackles and desperate clearances kept the home team out. The visitors first attack came some 6 minutes in as a long kick from Wilkinson was collected by Grainger who held off a defender but his shot hit the side netting. Back came Fire Fighters this time down the left, the strikers shot beet the keeper but Baldwin made a great clearance off the line. A minute later Wilkinson produced another great save pushing a strong shot round the post. The Colts best move so far came on 13 minutes when Kangura and Grainger exchanged passes twice before Kangura crossed for Beard to shoot just over. Moments later Beard latched onto another long kick to race away but again shot over the bar. The visitors finally broke the deadlock on 23 minutes when Jones picked out Kangura who headed the ball into the path of Timbrell, the winger taking a touch before smashing the ball into the back of the net. It was 2 just before half time when Grainger made a half chance for his self and finished well into the bottom corner. That’s how it stayed till half time.
Having rode their luck in the first half to go in 2-0 up the Colts needed a better display in the second half but made the worst possible start as Fire Fighters broke down the right from the kick off to pull a goal back. On 12 minutes they were level when a defender missed his clearance near the halfway line to allow the striker a run on goal from which he scored. The visitors restored their lead soon after with the goal of the game when Grainger crossed from the right for Kangura to send an over head kick into the net. Again the lead lasted just 2 minutes when a long throw into the area was turned into the net. Back came Pinley, another good cross was headed goal ward by Beard but as the visitors celebrated what they thought was a clear goal neither the referee or the linesman gave it and play carried on. Pinley pushed forward again with Beard forcing a good save from the keeper before Timbrell followed up to hit the post. A hotly contested free kick for the home team bought another fine save out of Wilkinson but they went ahead for the first time in the match when they scored from a disputed corner, 4-3. With 8 minutes remaining it was 5 for the home team as they moved a little to easily through the defence to create what seemed a match winning lead. The Colts showed great character responding to what they felt were some harsh decisions to pull a goal back with 4 minutes left when a good run from Makuba made a chance for Beard who forced the ball home.

Fire Fighters v Pinley Colts CONTINUED
With time all but up a long kick from Wilkinson again found Makuba who turned in the box only for a succession of shots and blocks to follow before Beard’s shot was eventually put into the net as the defender attempted to clear. The match finished 5-5 a result that sees the Colts hopes of a top four finish vanish with Fire Fighters now favourites to finish third, something they richly deserve on this form.

Coundon Cockerels v Pinley Colts
In conditions just right for football Pinley Colts made the trip to face a Coundon Cockerels side still looking for their first win of the season and with several players missing they needed a good performance to avoid becoming their first scalps. Pinley started the better with all the pressure and possession in the Coundon half, in the opening moments Vickery and Grainger combined well down the right to create a chance for Kangura that was charged down. Moments later a run from Timbrell on the left and an exchange of passes with Kangura saw him fire just wide. On 6 minutes Perrin and Grainger linked up well to see Grainger shoot across goal before Vickery returned the ball back to the area for Kangura to shoot narrowly wide. Two minutes later Perrin made a good run into the box but could only find the side netting as his angle on goal disappeared. Pinley forced a corner on 10 minutes which the keeper did well to palm away for another but Grainger’s next kick was too good for the home defence as Baldwin swept it into the net at the far post, 1-0 Pinley. The visitors continued to dominate the match with Kangura having to play as a loan striker but still impressing as he held the ball up well and created chances for Grainger and Timbrell. Despite the pressure Pinley couldn’t add to their score and were punished as Coundon scored with their first attack of the match breaking clear from the half way line, a couple of attempted clearances were blocked and the Coundon striker raced clear to score past keeper Wilkinson. The set back did nothing to ease the pressure on the home side as Pinley again pressed forward, Vickery just failing to get on the end of a Timbrell cross before finally getting a shot away but lacking the power to trouble the keeper. 1-1 at half time.
The second half saw some positional changes with Albrighton coming into midfield to support Grainger and Perrin and McDowell moving to his favoured position on the back line, the second half began well as the visitors started to pass the ball around to maximum effect Captain Perrin linking up with Vickery, his cross just evading the on-rushing Kangura and Albrighton. Minutes later another great move through the middle saw Grainger and Perrin work their way into the box both having shots blocked before Albrighton shot just wide. On the left Perrin played in Timbrell who crossed well for Kangura his shot hitting the keepers legs. The pressure finally told when Jones played the ball for Vickery his turn and cross from the right proving too good for everyone as it went straight in.

Coundon Cockerels v Pinley Colts CONTINUED
The Pinley defence were largely untroubled with McDowell, McNaney, Herbert and Jones all holding a high line to support the midfield, Perrin and Grainger were now picking out wingers Timbrell and Vickery with ease as the match seemed to be playing out around Coundon’s penalty area, 8 minutes after the second goal Grainger added to his recent scoring run after a clever pass by Perrin started the move. Despite plenty of possession and chances the game ended 3-1 to Pinley with the visitors at last finding the passing game that seemed to have deserted them in recent weeks.

Pinley Colts v Finham Rangers
Pinley Colts last match of the season was at home against Finham Rangers, the match kicking off in perfect playing conditions saw the home team looking to end the campaign with a win against a Finham side that hadn’t performed to there high standards of previous years. Despite the differing league positions it was the visitors who made the better start forcing Pinley deep into their own half, keeper Wilkinson being called into action early on to keep the scores level.. More Finham pressure saw McNaney and Albrighton eventually clear the ball away but another attack was soon mounted as first Herbert then McDowell scrambled the ball to safety. The opening ten minutes were all played in the Pinley half before they launched their first venture forward when Herbert and Grainger found Jones wide on the right, his cross came to nothing and the home team were soon defending again. Pinley’s midfield were struggling to make an impact on the game but another rare foray forward saw Grainger find Timbrell on the left, his one two with Kangura allowed him to race to the byline but his cross back into the box was cleared away. A change on the pitch seemed to help with the defensive work and after twenty minutes Pinley took the lead when Kangura chased a high bouncing ball towards the Finham goal, the keeper came for the ball but Kangura showed his bravery to nip in and head the ball past him. The goal helped to settle the Colts and they and were soon on the attack again when Baldwin found Perrin who’s first time pass to Vickery gave him a run down the right before crossing for Beard to shoot just wide. The first half ended as it began with Wilkinson making another good save to preserve the lead, 1-0 Pinley.
The Colts nearly doubled their lead early in the second half when Grainger and Perrin found Timbrell who in turn found Kangura, his shot was blocked and as Vickery returned the ball to the box Beard just failed to connect. The visitors continued to do most of the pressing but were caught out by a long clearance from McDowell as Pinley broke in numbers Kangura eventually getting the ball in the net for his and Pinleys second. The home team could count themselves fortunate to be two goals to the good but their luck ran out five minutes later when the visiting striker made a great turn to get in on goal and fire low past keeper Wilkinson. With fifteen minutes left the game became very stretched as both teams looked for the crucial next goal, that goal came with ten minutes remaining when a pin point cross from Grainger was met with an equally good header from Beard giving the keeper no chance to make it 3-1. Finham continued to battle to the final whistle but the Colts held on for a hard earned and perhaps fortunate win. A very good season for the Colts with just four defeats and a likely top four finish.
